Change critical settings

• Click on your icon on top left (might be first letter of your name
• Click on "Settings"
• Change the Password (menu item "General"->Account)
• Please note your full User ID (@first.last:peace.ia)
• You may change other items such as a Picture or Display name (i.e. nickname)
• Save Encryption Keys
• Rooms can often be set for encrypting at rest (on disk). This depends on keeping your Keys safe, and bringing them back when you log off.
• It is critical that you save off your keys, or you will lose access to private messages forever.
• If you are logged into two or more sessions (i.e. a Desktop and a Phone), you can often get the keys back from other sessions if you have access to both. Some may involve matching ICONs, for phones, you may get a QR code. Follow instructions while logging in.
• There are several cases where you must have a key backup. Do it now.
  • From Settings, select "Security & Privacy"->Encryption
  • Press the "Set up Secure Backup" button.
  • You can "Generate a Security Key", which are numbers, and hard to remember. However, if you can save them to a password vault, or save securely on the disk of your Desktop, this is a reasonable option.
  • You can also enter a Security Phrase. Write down a sentence about 12-15 words long. Then enter in.
